Information for Applicants

Under the Advancing Medicare & Medicaid Integration initiative, Arnold Ventures seeks to provide funding to states and/or state technical assistance partners to advance Medicare and Medicaid integration for dual-eligible individuals.

Funding Amount

Funding will vary based on project size and scope. Typical awards will be between $350,000 to $800,000. See Examples of Potential Projects and Activities to learn about the types of work that may be supported.

Timing

State projects will be reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis. Project durations may vary based on the scope of work but should be no more than 30 months.

Who Can Apply

States are encouraged to apply. Applicants may include, but are not limited to, state Medicaid agencies and/or state disability and aging agencies involved in coverage and service delivery for dual-eligible populations.

State technical assistance partners may also apply on behalf of a state, with state approval and participation. Technical assistance partners applying on behalf of a state are expected to demonstrate formal state commitment through a letter of support. State staff will need to provide project oversight, review of key deliverables, provide data or information needed to complete the project, and meet periodically with Arnold Ventures and CHCS staff to assess progress. Projects targeting multiple states will not be considered.

COORDINATING THE INITIATIVE

The Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) is the National Program Coordination Office for the Advancing Medicare & Medicaid Integration initiative. With support from Arnold Ventures, CHCS provides no-cost assistance to states interested in applying, which includes assisting with refinement of project concepts and design.

  • STEP 2: LOIs are reviewed by Arnold Ventures and CHCS on an ongoing basis.
  • STEP 3: Applicants whose LOIs are favorably reviewed will be invited to submit a full proposal.

Unsolicited full proposals will not be accepted.

CHCS is available to support applicants in developing and refining their project designs both prior to submitting a LOI and while preparing a full proposal. For information on applicant selection decision criteria, visit the Award Criteria page. To submit questions about the application process email medicare-medicaid@chcs.org.

Selected applicants will work in partnership with Arnold Ventures and CHCS throughout the duration of their projects, meeting periodically to discuss progress on deliverables and to collaboratively navigate any challenges that could present barriers to achieving project objectives.
